What’s new in BlackBerry UEM Cloud

We’ve just released the latest update to BlackBerry UEM Cloud. Among the many upgrades in UEM that will improve your ability to manage mobile devices in the enterprise, we’ve added new features such as support for BlackBerry Dynamics management, integration with Microsoft Intune, the ability to manage wearable devices and integration with BEMS cloud.

Support for Dynamics app management

Deploy, configure, and manage BlackBerry Dynamics apps in BlackBerry UEM Cloud to enable secure, cross platform collaboration. This includes BlackBerry Work, BlackBerry Access, BlackBerry Notes, BlackBerry Tasks, and push email notifications. Note that if you want to use BlackBerry Proxy and BlackBerry Dynamics apps, you must install the latest version of the BlackBerry Connectivity Node in your environment. For information about installing a BlackBerry Connectivity Node, refer to the Configuration content.

Microsoft Intune integration

Connect BlackBerry UEM Cloud to Microsoft Intune, allowing you to manage Microsoft Intune app protection policies from within the BlackBerry UEM Cloud management console. For Microsoft Intune to work with BlackBerry UEM Cloud, you must have BlackBerry Connectivity Node installed and upgraded to the most recent version.

Wearable devices

You can activate and manage certain Android-based, head-worn wearable devices in BlackBerry UEM Cloud.

QR code activation

Users can activate iOS and Android devices using a QR code instead of an activation password. You can send the QR code in an activation email or users can create a QR code in BlackBerry UEM Cloud Self-Service.

Apple TV

You can activate and manage Apple TV devices in BlackBerry UEM Cloud.

BlackBerry Enterprise Identity

  • On the BlackBerry Enterprise Identity Services page, you can enable your organization’s services.
  • New UEM Cloud and Workspaces tenants are now auto-configured to allow users to sign in with Enterprise Identity, allowing application of two-factor authentication or other advanced access policies (pre-existing UEM Cloud tenants will gain this capability in a future release).
  • SAML ECP now supported with Microsoft Office 365, allowing better integration with some third-party mobile email clients.

BEMS Cloud

BlackBerry UEM Cloud now supports BEMS Cloud for BlackBerry Work, allowing BlackBerry UEM Cloud to manage email notifications when users’ enterprise mailboxes change. Enabling email notifications also enables the BlackBerry Directory Lookup service and BlackBerry Follow-Me service allowing users to look up other users by first name, last name, and associated photo or avatar from your company directory and support BlackBerry Dynamics Launcher on BlackBerry Work, respectively.

Google integration improvements

  • You can create a compliance rule to ensure that the user has set device or work space passwords that meet the complexity requirements defined in the IT policy assigned to them.
  • For Android devices that have a work profile, you can specify whether you want app configurations to be sent to the devices through BlackBerry UEM Client or Google Play. You can’t edit this setting after the Google domain connection is configured.
  • You can specify the permissions that you want to grant for each app individually to ensure that only the appropriate permissions are granted. For each type of permission that an app requests, you can choose to grant, deny, or use the permission specified in the policy. By default, the default app permissions policy is applied.
  • You can view the number of used app licenses for Android work apps and see which users are using them.

Trials

  • BlackBerry Dynamics apps trials with BlackBerry UEM Cloud: Customers can now use BlackBerry Work and other ISV Dynamics applications with BlackBerry UEM Cloud.
  • Cloud BlackBerry Workspaces trials: Customers can now self-provision Cloud BlackBerry Workspaces trials.
